ACADEMIC HISTORY AND ENGLISH

PROFICIENCY SCORE(3

I am charmed to share my educational qualification. I have completed my matriculation in March 2016 with 8.2 cgpa under CBSE board and with it I had completed my 12th standard in 2018 with 79.7%  from PSEB board. The reason due to which I changed from CBSE to PSEB board during 12th standard was just because there was significantly less pressure in PSEB board. Just recently I have completed my bachelors of arts with 76.2% under Punjabi University,Patiala. I had three main subjects in my graduation which were Journalism and Mass Communication, Computer Application and English Literature.

After the completion of my graduation, I appeared for IELTS examination on 20th November 2021 in order to prove my proficiency in English. I scored 7 overall bands, not less than 6 in any module. After doing my research on various courses that I can opt, which is also relevant to my previous study, I came to the decision for going for Masters of Communication. Now, currently I am looking forward to get a study Visa for the same purpose.

WHY MASTERS OF COMMUNICATION(4

The imperative reason of choosing the proposed program is that my graduation study was in quite similar field and interest generated in bachelors induced me to take up post-graduation in the similar field. Masters of Communication will help me to learn art of expression and communication. It exposes an individual  to several platforms where one can express themselves and there ideologies. Pursuing mass communication allows students to develop individual sentiment, musings, and perspectives over any theme when writing down any occurrence of a social, financial, or political reference to make it more relatable.

The job prospects are endless in this field. With a communication degree one is not just limited to a single job role. Nearly all organisations need people who can write persuasively and argue for their ideas, services and products.Communications graduates are ready for various job roles such as public relations, startups, entrepreneurs, communication manager, social media advisor, advertising specialist , marketing manager, sales communication and many more. It also helps a student to  develop a broad range of analytical and communication skills, which provide the groundwork for numerous career paths in business, education, and public affairs.

Along with this, the 8 credit points in this course are for specialisation which I will choose Public Relations. PR people are storytellers. They create narratives to advance their agenda.  PR can be used to protect, enhance or build reputations through the social media, or self-produced communications.  By studying PR topics in my specialisation I will be able to improve various skills such as:- being aware of industry trends, trying out different writing styles, setting up goals for personal and professional development, learning about clients focus.

And despite no matter what, in today’s world, gaining a communication degree is a game changer because whatever organisation or company you are working in or no matter whether you are doing a job or running a business, having the skills that one gains  from a communication degree are very crucial in order to run a successful business.

WHY NOT INDIA (6

There are numerous reasons due to which I have decided not to do my masters degree from India out of which one of the main reason is lack of global recognition. Degrees from the Indian universities are not that much preferred or valued globally. Even inside India, the vast big companies or MNCs prefer students with degrees from abroad and not students with degrees from Indian universities. But even if by luck a student lands onto a job, the average  salary for a freshers is not more than 2 lakh per annum, which is too low.

The other alarming factor due to which I decided to not to continue my studies in India is lack of practical knowledge! The Indian education system does not offer practical knowledge to the students, slowing down their learning process and restricting their growth in particular study fields. However, hypothetical comprehension of any subject is significant, but it does not relate the students with the reality if they do not give along with the practical knowledge.Lack of practical knowledge restricts the student’s potential to grow in the real world. It doesn’t allow them to know their potential and learn new skills. So, to explore all the aspects of my field I want to study abroad.

 WHY DEAKIN UNIVERSITY (7

For the purpose of studying Masters of Communication , I have chosen Deakin University because of its ranking and favourable reviews. Deakin University have been ranked among top 1% of the global Universities. One of the reasons to choose Deakin is its quick application process. Moreover, the coursework of the University is detailed and impressive as compared to other Universities, such as, Federation University, RMIT University, La Trobe University, Victoria University and Swinburne University.

Also, on campus the University have students from various countries which would also help me to know about various cultures and traditions. Furthermore, tuition fees is reasonable as compared to Monash University, so this University is pocket friendly for me. With this, I have also received a scholarship of 20% from Deakin University, which is one of the most major reason for choosing this University over any other university.

Deakin University is also known for its research programs. In terms of student support and teaching scale, this university is highly ranked. Moreover, placement cell of the university works actively in close cooperation with industries and helps them to give more fresh talent. The staff of the university takes care of students by adopting personalised learning approach. For the mental wellbeing of the pupil the university have separate department.

Due to all of the advantages stated above I am really looking forward to pursue my masters degree from Deakin University.

INCENTIVES TO COME BACK TO INDIA (10

There are several compelling reasons due to which I will definitely returning bank to my home country. I will be very grateful of my parents for giving me the freedom and the exposure to find my ground and fulfil my dreams by letting me to study my masters degree from a country like Australia but I don’t see myself living there on permanent bases. First and foremost reason is obviously my family and my friends. All of them  resides in India and there is none of my any close relative living in Australia who can become my emotional support in my hard times. Thus, as soon as I will finish my study I will join my parents and loved ones and would make lifelong memories. In the later ages of life, parents need the help of their children and I cannot afford to escape from it. I want to live those priceless moments with my family as money cannot buy such moments.

Secondly , armed with an Australian degree, my chances of finding a satisfactory job in terms of salary and post, is higher in India than if were to compete for jobs in the Australia. Considering that the education in developed countries is more research-oriented, self-study- based and involves rigorous training, Indian corporations value foreign degree much. The Indian job market has become quite welcoming towards the student who completes their studies abroad and desires to flourish the Indian job market. The Indians grads coming from an abroad institution surely gets an edge over other candidates, given their depth of knowledge and hands-on experience at a global level. If looked precisely, most of the highest position of top-notch companies today are handled by professionals who have completed one or other degree abroad.

The only reason due to which I want to visit Australia is to get quality education  which unfortunately an Indian university cannot offer. Rest I love my country and I am very much attached to my roots. I am very much fond of my traditions which I will definitely will like to pass to my future generation which will be not possible while staying in Australia.
